More Time Than Life - Unisex Raglan Tees
ABOUT THIS DESIGN:
“May Más Tiempo Que Vida”
“There is more time than life.”
The Disney/Pixar Film “CoCo” explores the connections between family, life, death, and passion, all within the influences of Mexican culture. After we have passed on, our connections are strengthened by our families continuing to remember us and telling our stories. In Mexican culture, Dia de los Muertos is an opportunity for those family member’s souls to come back and visit their loved ones. This phrase is a reminder that our days are finite in number so we must “seize our moment” and live a life to be proud of.
This design is inspired by the vibrant after life city and characters in the movie. We mostly see the afterlife depicted as a dark, sad, and scary place but the afterlife in Coco is full of color, loud and exciting music, and also “full of life”! The soul of this design is the recreation of the festive and colorful feeling that Mexico is known for. The top of the design begins with two guitars crossing with a skeleton head. We used distressed and Southwestern style fonts for the vintage Mexican country feel and the “QUE VIDA” words are in a bone-like typeface to emphasize the skeletons, a huge part of the Dia de los Muertos celebrations! Below the phrase in Spanish is the English translation, just like what can be found at the Mexico Pavillion at Epcot. In English, “LIFE” is inspired by the CoCo movie logo. At the bottom we see Mama Imelda’s alebrije, “Pepita”, who has a face of a jaguar, wings and talons of an eagle, horns of a ram and a lizard-like tail. Alebrijes are animal “spirit guides” in the afterlife, inspired by traditional Mexican folk art.
Our “Gradient Print” features a blue to silver/off white toning for those who want a more subtle nod to the classic film. Our “Skeleton Print” is made to compliment other colors and combines shades of white to give a bone-like appearance throughout the design.
While this design was influenced by the wall at the Epcot pavilion, this design will fit it with any Pixar celebration, on Dia de los Muertos, at any Disney Park, but also on days where you want to celebrate the beauty of life.
